Biscoff Cut-out Cookies

Remember Biscoffs?  Those little "airline cookies?"  We talked about them here.
Well, I wondered if maybe, just maybe, I could use the Biscoff Spread and make some cut-out cookies for decorating.

The answer?  Yes.

If you love those crunchy little Biscoff cookies, but would love a softer, more sugar-cookie-ish version, you might want to try this.

{And, you don't even have to decorate them....just eat them plain.  Or, one other option that I'll show you in a minute.}

Biscoff Cut-out Cookies

2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. kosher salt
3 c. unbleached, all-purpose flour
1 stick salted butter, cut into chunks
1/2 c. Biscoff Spread
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. light brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. heavy cream

In a medium bowl, whisk together the baking powder, salt and flour.  Set aside.

In a large bowl of a stand mixer, beat together the butter, Biscoff Spread, and sugars using a paddle attachment until light and fluffy.
Mmm....fluffy.

Add the egg and beat well.  Beat in the cream.

In three additions, beat in the flour on low until combined. Divide the dough in half, shape into discs, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 30 minutes before rolling.

Preheat oven to 350.  Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.

On a floured surface, roll the dough with a floured rolling pin to about 1/4th inch thick.  Place shapes on the prepared cookie sheet and chill in the freezer 5-10 minutes.

Remove from freezer and bake 8-12 minutes, depending on cookie size.  Cool on sheet 2 minutes, then remove to cooling rack to cool completely.

Decorate, eat plain, OR...
...sandwich together with a little Biscoff Spread.  Go ahead, try it!

CAROLYN ROEHM ~ SEASONAL TABLETOP DESIGN

When Carolyn Roehm designs a table landscape, we are certain it will be a show-stopper.  The designer only uses candlelight in her dining rooms because she believes that the light given off by the candle adds beautiful reflection and ambiance to the room.

Roehm uses multiple height candles, ranging from short up to 40 inches tall and prefers off-white, bright-white, and black candles unless she can find colors that match the china or flowers perfectly. She prefers Root Candles and Colonial Candles and loves using pinecone-shaped candles in a rustic setting.  The designer favors scented candles and only uses Balsam scent during the Christmas holidays.  ENJOY!

CHAD EISNER ~ DESIGN IN BEVERLY HILLS

The owners of this Los Angeles home didn't want to move and leave all of their memories behind, so they called on talented designer Chad Eisner to renovate and design the interior. The result is a home that is the epitome of chic and luxury with a relaxed and comfortable feel.

Eisner used very large pieces sparingly throughout the home. The light fixture in the living room, the chandelier over the custom made dining table, with chairs found in Paris, and the silk-velvet fabrics are just a preview of what can be seen in this home. The eglomise panels in the dining room are stunning, and the large mirror in the sculptured garden is spectacular, bringing the outside in.  ENJOY!

The new page Bake at 350 Goes Savory is now open and there are a few recipes there for your perusal.  Do not worry...these posts will not show up in your reader...I know you are here for the sugar.

Pop on over if you're looking for something new for lunch or dinner. (There's a link right at the top of the blog in the yellow navigation bar.)

Now, if I can only get Mr. E to come home from work at 4:30, so I still have good light for taking pictures. ;)

Gluten-Free Goddess eBook

My new ebook- best loved recipes

My blog anniversary is just around the corner. Yep. Number six. And I am trying to wrap my little gluten-free brain around it. Six years. Six. That is a long time in blog years. (Maybe blog years are kinda like dog years? Every twelve months of blogging seems equal to seven human years. What I think I'm trying to say is that GFG feels... more grown up somehow. She's no longer a lurching toddler- or as Johnny Depp likes to phrase it, "tiny drunk"). The bumble-puppy years are over.

We're respectable now. (But hopefully not too serious.)

I  began blogging and sharing my recipes in late fall of 2005. There are over 400 original gluten-free recipes now on Gluten-Free Goddess. This astonishes me!

Looking over my recipe index this past summer I began to imagine the beginnings of a cookbook- a collection of recipe favorites from Gluten-Free Goddess. (In full transparency there have been cookbook offers, and some tempting projects pitched to me this year. But none seemed like the perfect fit. In fact, most felt like a tight shoe that pinched and chafed and left me preferring to go barefoot, taking my own meandering solo path, focusing on blogging, my first love.)

But then you know what happened. I got an iPad. And soon discovered the convenience and pleasure of bringing my entire blog into the kitchen with me. And that led to ebooks...

HOUSE BEAUTIFUL DESIGNER VISIONS: CINEMA STYLE SHOWCASE HOME

The House Beautiful Designer Visions: Cinema Style showcase home was designed by interior designer Heather Moore for Jed Johnson Associates. The apartment was inspired by the movie, Factory Girl, based on the life of Edie Sedgwick. There was nothing dull about Sedgwick, and there is nothing dull about this home.

The Fifth Avenue apartment is decorated with midcentury furnishings, and the eclectic mix melds beautifully with the contemporary art, such as the Warhol shown here. Moore drew inspiration from the fabrics, and there is an edge to everything she created. ENJOY!
